What is The Ponytail Wig?!

At Milano Collection Wigs, we offer a wide range of different glueless wigs and hair toppers. When it comes to our premium human hair wig collections, one of our most popular is our Ponytail Wigs.

So, what is a “Ponytail Wig”?  Let’s talk about it!

If you’re not sure what a Ponytail Wig is, that’s okay! We're here to explain!

Because of the name “Ponytail Wig”, you may be thinking that a Ponytail Wig is something that’s strictly meant for wearing ponytails (like a ponytail extension or a clip-on ponytail). Which is totally valid, but it’s not true!

The Ponytail Wig is actually very versatile, and that’s why so many women love it so much! We perfected the closed wefted back and cap construction with ventilated features underneath to look just as natural when worn up, as it does when wearing your hair down!

Here’s a breakdown of the basics:

The Ponytail wig is a lace front, glueless wig. It’s a full wig, and covers your entire head. The Ponytail Wig also has a “skin top”, which means that the top of the wig, where the roots of the hair are, mimics the look and color of a natural scalp. The hair can be parted in multiple directions too!

The Ponytail Wig got its name because of the way the wig cap is constructed! The construction of the wig gives you the option to wear your hair in multiple hairstyles. If you enjoy styling your hair up (whether for a special occasion up-do, a casual ponytail, a trendy half-up half-down look, or a messy bun), you have the freedom to do so with the Ponytail Wig!

The Ponytail Wig is designed to contour to your head and look completely natural, even if you’re wearing your hair up. The way it’s able to do this is by a few features the wig cap has.

The Ponytail Wig comes with ear pieces (or ear tabs). Ear pieces are small pieces of fabric located on the sides of the wig, positioned just in front of the ears. They help guide wig placement and also offer a more realistic look.

They do this by covering the area of your head that’s by your temples (or where your natural “side burns” would be). They lay flat against your skin and have boning inside of them. The boning is flexible and can be bent to contour the shape of your head. This gives the wig an even more snug/secure fit.

There is also hair that’s hand-tied to the outside of the ear pieces. This hair falls the same way your natural baby hairs or side burns would. It gives your wig a more realistic look, especially when pulling your hair back and away from your face. How? Because instead of seeing a distinct straight line where the edge of your wig would be, your wig now just looks like the hair that’s growing out of your head.

In addition to the ear pieces, there's also a large comb that’s attached to the nape area on the inside of the wig cap. This comb is flexible and spans across the entire nape. The comb is used to help ensure your wig is snug and secure in the back. If you’re wearing it with a WigGrip Band, we like to take the comb and anchor it underneath your WigGrip band for extra security. If not, you can use the comb to anchor underneath your natural hair.

The wefts of the hair in the back of the wig are sewn in a direction that allows them to lay naturally if you pulled your hair up into a ponytail. The wefts are hand tied with extra ventilation in the back of the cap. This makes it more breathable and comfortable when wearing your hair up.

Whether you love wearing your hair down or up, The Ponytail Wig is a great option! They're breathable, comfortable, and look natural.

The Ponytail Wig is available in both wavy and straight hair texture and comes in 3 different lengths - 16 inches, 22 inches, and 26 inches! They are also available in all of our Premium Processed human hair colors (including greys, reds, blondes, browns, and black)
