How to Care for Human Hair Wigs:

One of the primary benefits of a human hair wig is the ability to treat it just like your natural hair. While many women go to a salon to have their human hair wigs cleaned and styled, this option isn’t always available to everyone. Thankfully, you can easily care for your human hair wigs at home with a few quick steps:

Step 1:  Brush Out Your Human Hair Wig

Using a paddle brush, vent brush such as the Milano Gentle Brush, or wide-toothed comb, start at the bottom of your wig and gently work your way up to the top to remove any tangles without pulling on the hair.

Step 2:  Wash Your Human Hair Wig

Using lukewarm water, fill up a basin and add a quarter-size amount of wig shampoo to water and mix well.  Place hand inside of wig cap to hold it securely, and dip wig slowly into the water until hair is fully saturated, repeating 3 – 4 times.  Place wig under running water and gently squeeze in downward motion until hair is fully rinsed out.  If your hair needs additional cleaning, repeat above steps.  

Step 3: Apply Conditioner to Your Human Hair Wig

After shampooing, refill bucket or basin with warm water.  Add a quarter size amount of wig conditioner to water and mix well. Place hand inside of wig cap to hold it securely, and dip wig slowly into the water until hair is saturated, repeating 3 – 4 times.  Place wig under running water and gently squeeze in downward motion until hair is fully rinsed out.  

Step 4:  Style Your Human Hair Wig

Now that the wig has been cleaned, you can place it on a wig stand to dry.

Use a curl spray (sparingly) on damp hair if you wish to keep your curly or wavy wigs bouncy and revitalized.

Or, use an End Sealer (being carefully not to use too much) if you want to tame split ends and/or frizzy textures.

Whichever styling products you use should be professional grade products, ideally designed with the needs of human hair wigs in mind. 

Dry and shape your human hair wigs using a hair dryer fitted with a concentrator nozzle. 

Use either a foam or canvas wig head for shaping.

You can use hot tools on all Milano Wigs. We recommend that you use heat protecting products to protect the hair, and that you avoid excessive heat or prolonged exposure to heat as it can damage the cuticles. If you’re looking for some additional volume or smoothness as a finishing touch, we recommend the Milano Volumizing & Smoothing Brush.  It has three settings so you can control the power you want, and contains special bristles that allow you to style while drying your wig effortlessly.
