The Secret to Making Your Lace Front Wig Last as Long as Possible
This might surprise you, but the secret to extending the longevity of your wig lies in items found in Milano Wigs' product line that are both some of our best-selling, yet they can sometimes be misunderstood.
That’s right- we’re talking about the HatFall Wig and the BandFall Wig!

As you can see above, the Hatfall wig looks like a typical wig from about the mid-forehead level and down, but above, what would normally be the lace or silk top of the wig is replaced by an empty plane of fabric with no hair coming out of it.
Although some commenters have cleverly asked questions like, “Why is there a chunk of hair missing?,” or, “Why would I pay to look like I have male pattern baldness?,” we’re here to set the record straight on why these somewhat peculiar-looking wigs are your new best friend.
So...What are Hatfalls and Bandfalls?
As you may have guessed by the title (or put together from the image), a Hatfall wig is missing its top layer of hair because it’s meant to be worn with a hat. The hat covers up the fabric on the top of the Hatfall wig, resulting in an appearance that is identical to wearing a full wig or a real head of hair once you put the hat on.
You might be wondering, "What does this have to do with the longevity of my wig?"
Allow us to explain!
Let’s forget about Hatfall wigs for a second. If you own a lace front wig from Milano that you wear daily or near-daily, and you take perfect care of it (meaning you take it off for swimming and sleeping, you don’t manhandle it, you don't overwash it, you store and style it properly, etc), it can last you a few years, and sometimes even longer.
By swapping your lace front wig out for a matching Hatfall wig, even for just a few days a month, you can essentially add those days back to your lace front wig’s lifespan.
Our clients who have a Hatfall wig or a Bandfall wig in a matching color, style, and length to their lace front wig- depending on how often they opt to wear their Hatfall wig- can potentially extend their daily wig’s life by up to a year or more!
What about Bandfalls?
A Bandfall Wigs is another great option to add to your collection. A Bandfall Wig is basically 3/4 of a wig. It's a full wig, except it doesn't have a lace front or a lace/silk top. A Bandfall Wig is designed to be worn underneath a headband, scarf, or head covering.

The wefts on the wig are sewn in a direction that allows the hair to fall naturally when wearing it. You may have seen versions of the Bandfall wig before! They are actually pretty common! Some brands call them "sport wigs" - which brings us to our next point!
A Bandfall can be your everyday, activewear wig! If you need to wear a wig for religious reasons, or if you have hair loss and you already wear a wig daily, you know the struggle of wearing your lace front or lace top wig everywhere...plus, we all know it isn't the best idea to wear your lace front wig while you work out. Wearing a Bandfall wig on your casual days, your busy Sundays, to your morning yoga class, running errands, etc., is a MUCH better option than wearing your more delicate lace front wig. Try swapping it out, and save your lace front wig for special occasions! It'll help make it last a lot longer if you do!

So, if you're intimidated by the Hatfall wig, or if you're not a huge hat-wearer, the Bandfall is another amazing option!
If you are someone who wears hats, either for fashion, to block the sun, or for warmth in the winter, and would normally be wearing these hats with your full wig or to cover your hair loss, imagine if you could be extending your lace front wig’s lifespan on those days by swapping your wig with one that looks exactly the same with a hat on, costs hundreds of dollars less, and is super quick and easy to put on?

Think of it this way, this is particularly beneficial for the days that would be the roughest on your lace front wig- days where you are busy, on the go, active, or outdoors. Plus, these types of days also tend to be the ones where you benefit the most comfort-wise from not wearing a full wig!
Both the Hatfall and the Bandfall were designed to take on life with you. While they're still made with the same 100% premium quality human hair as our lace front wigs, the cap construction of both is more durable for these exact reasons. Without having the Swiss lace as a part of the construction, it makes these wigs are less delicate than our Lace Top Wigs or Silk Top Wigs.
"But what if I don't wear wigs already? Why would I want a Hatfall or a Bandfall?"
That's a totally valid question - These wigs are great on their own, too!
If you have hair loss, alopecia, or if you're going through chemotherapy treatment, your scalp can become sensitive, and you'll want a wig that's easy to put on, but most importantly, comfortable. The Hatfall is made with Bamboo cotton that lies over your head. This not only creates a soft, comfortable barrier between your hat and your scalp. The material is also designed to be cooling and breathable. So, if it's summertime and you don't want to wear a full wig in the heat, a Hatfall is a great choice! Full wigs can tend to get hot to wear in the summer months, but the Hatfall is ideal for keeping cool while still having gorgeous hair.
If you have a child who has alopecia or has gone through chemo and lost their hair, but is still active in after-school activities or plays sports, the Hatfall is a must-have (especially if they want to wear a wig). We can't expect kids to know how to properly take care of a lace front human hair wig; they're kids! When it comes to playing sports, if your child wants to wear a wig during her games or practice, it's a safer bet to wear a Hatfall rather than a lace front or lace top wig. This way, she can run, play, and have fun without damaging or ruining her wig - all while still feeling confident.
When it comes to Bandfalls, they are a great wig for most of the same reasons. If you're new to wearing wigs and don't want to dive into a lace front or lace top wig, a Bandfall could be a good transition wig to start with. Just keep in mind you'll have to wear it with a headband!
If you are religious and need a wig for covering your hair, the Bandfall is one of the best and easiest options! You can wear it under a head covering, scarf, or band.
Regardless of the reason, if you decide to try a Hatfall Wig or Bandfall Wig, there are so many great benefits that come along with them!
